Oak & Fir

Crafting traditional and contemporary frames, we predominantly work with Oak and Douglas-fir.  

• Oak provides an unmatched level of longevity, curved beauty and strength.                      Traditional green oak frames are full of character, as they dry with twists and cracks.
• Douglas-fir is an excellent alternative.                                                                                                With its straighter grain it is easier to get hold of longer lengths, so longer spans can be achieved. It offers a warm and modern feel. It is more dimensionally stable as it dries, so while it does crack it usually does not split as dramatically as oak.
