Passivhaus, Lenzie
The relationship between architect, client and builder was at the heart of this project. A shared passion for sustainability shines through every detail of this build, from design to completion.
In 2018 this Passivhaus was nominated for a Saltire Societies Housing Design Award. The Saltire Societies description sums this build up perfectly:
“A house that is exceptional in delivering integrated sustainable design in Scotland. Conceived as a Passive House to exacting standards of energy conservation, it also addresses with great rigour the ecological choices to be made in building materials and finishes. With elements of self-build, the relationship between client, contractor and architect are mutually collaborative and supportive. It is robust but carefully detailed and shows elegance, strength and depth in its design.”
Not only did this Passivhaus win a Saltire Societies Housing Design Award, in the Single Dwelling Award category, it also won an award for build quality. While at the Saltire Societies award ceremony, at the Carbon Centre for Innovation in Edinburgh, an exceptional award was announced for David Walsh as he was awarded a Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) Award for build quality. The CIOB Awards celebrate excellence in the construction industry, recognizing individuals, teams, and projects that demonstrate leadership, innovation, and high-quality built environments.
